MEADOW LAKE - Meadow Lake RCMP recovered stolen tools and industrial equipment and arrested two people.
Police arrested 51-year-old Huber Allan Tourand (Al) and 40-year-old Dustin Caplette following an investigation into several reports of stolen property in the area recently. Tourand and Caplette were charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Caplette was additionally charged with failing to comply with a previous release condition.
After receiving a complaint of a stolen side-by-side ATV on June 4, RCMP tracked the machine to a location south of Meadow Lake and were able to make an arrest and recover it. The police investigation, with the assistance of Meadow Lake Police Dog Service, led to a rural property near Meadow Lake where another stolen ATV was recovered as well as a three-quarter ton truck. The ATV and the truck had both been reported stolen from the Meadow Lake area within the last few weeks.
A search warrant was then executed and a significant amount of stolen industrial equipment was recovered. They were primarily Milwaukee tools sets, which are believed to have been stolen recently in Meadow Lake. RCMP say they will be contacting the owners to verify the property and have it returned as soon as possible. Anyone that may have had tools or industrial equipment stolen recently is asked to contact the Meadow Lake Detachment.
Caplette and Tourand were remanded in custody and appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court June 9.
During the investigation, a vehicle encountered police on the property and when questioned it fled but was located shortly after. Twenty-year-old Breane Roy and 30-year-old Jonathan Martell were arrested. Roy was charged with resisting arrest and flight from police. She has been released and appears in Meadow Lake Provincial Court July 18. Martell was charged with resisting arrest, flight from police, operating a vehicle while prohibited, and failing to comply with probation.
The charges against the accused haven't been proven in court.
Police say their investigation is ongoing.
Meadow Lake RCMP ask the public to ensure any thefts are reported and remind the public to record serial numbers of their property.
