RM OF BRITANNIA - Update Oct. 12: As a result of continued investigation, its been determined no items were stolen from the victim during this incident. The white car was not drivable and remained at the scene. The truck and the van have not been located. The investigation is ongoing at this time and we encourage anyone with information to please contact their local police service or RCMP Detachment.
Background Oct 10: Patrols are ongoing in the RM of Britannia near the communities of Paradise Hill and Frenchman Butte after a serious robbery with suspects occupying two vehicles.
On Oct. 10, around 6:30 a.m. Maidstone RCMP responded to a report of a robbery with a firearm that occurred on Highway 3 in the
Initial investigation indicates a dark-coloured, four-door pickup truck forced a white car traveling on Highway 3 off the roadway. The truck then rammed the car. A firearm was pointed at the lone driver of the car. The driver of the white car, which was not driveable and remained at the scene, was able to flee the area on foot and did not report any physical injuries. The occupants of the truck were not known to them.
Maidstone RCMP conducted immediate patrols of the area and did not locate the truck and van. Patrols continue in the surrounding communities and detachment areas.
The truck will have damage to the right rear bumper with some white paint on it. There were three people reported to be in the truck:
- One male is described as being approximately 5’10” tall, with a slender build and wearing a black bandana over his face and wore glasses
- One female was described as having their black hair worn in a bun and were approximately 20 years old
- A second female is described as having blonde/orange shoulder-length hair and wearing jeans and a red plaid shirt
A second vehicle, a tan brown van with a cracked windshield, is also believed to be involved. There may be as many as four occupants in the van; no descriptions of them are available.
