Living Sky School Division held their latest board meeting Wednesday over the Microsoft Teams platform.

NORTH BATTLEFORD - Living Sky School Division provided their latest indication they were moving back to normal with plans to hold some live in-person events again.

At Living Sky School Board鈥檚 meeting on Wednesday afternoon, Kelsie Valliere, PR/Advancement Specialist, reported that the division would be holding their Staff Recognition on May 13 and the Student Hall of Fame on June 9.

These are events that have not been held in person the last couple of years due to COVID-19 restrictions. While it is still tentative at this stage, the intention is to resume holding these as live events.

鈥淲e are moving in a direction where we are hopeful that we will be able to have those events in person,鈥 Valliere said.

The plan is to have a 鈥淐harlie and the Chocolate Factory鈥 theme for the Student Hall of Fame, while the theme for the Staff Recognition is under the working title 鈥淪pecially Crafted鈥, with plans for local breweries and local artisans and perhaps incorporate some student art into that event.

There are also plans to give the opportunity to those who have retired in the past couple of years to be invited to the Staff Recognition event.

The thinking is that both events would be at the Northland Power Curling Centre, which would have enough space to accommodate the amount of people and have social distancing. There is a 30-day window where there is no financial penalty if they need to cancel. There is also a 鈥減lan B鈥 option if they need to shift to a virtual event.

This story has been updated to correct the date of the service recognition event from May 12 to 13.
