King of Westside Outlaws arrested in Onion Lake after being banished

Terrance Stonechild is one of 32 people banished from OLCN after declaring a state of emergency in January 2020 following a string of gang-related violence.

ONION LAKE - The king of Westside Outlaws street gang - who was banished from Onion Lake Cree Nation - was arrested there again.

Onion Lake RCMP arrested 34-year-old Terrance Stonechild on the First Nation following a police chase Dec. 9.

RCMP say that they were doing patrols when they noticed a stolen truck driving in the community. They attempted a traffic stop but the truck fled.

Police set up a spike belt and the truck drove over it flattening its tires. The truck drove for another 2.5 kilometres before coming to a stop and six occupants were arrested. Police seized about 355 grams of methtamphetamine and a sum of cash.

Stonechild, who now lives in Wetaskiwin, Alta, was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime, and breach of a probation order. He was under conditions after recently being released from prison.

Greg Soosay, 29, of Onion Lake Cree Nation, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime, flight from police, and resisting arrest.

The four other occupants were released without charges.

Stonechild and Soosay appeared in Lloydminster, Sask. Court on Dec. 15.

Stonechild was also arrested on Onion Lake Cree Nation in December 2020 after being banished. Stonechild is one of 32 people banished from OLCN as the community combats illegal drug and gang activity. OLCN declared a state of emergency in January 2020 after a string of gang-related violence threatened the safety of the community.

During Stonechild’s sentencing hearing in Lloydminster Provincial Court in July 2021, court heard that Stonechild was the “king of Westside Outlaws street gang.” Stonechild was sentenced to 412 days in prison for weapons-related offences.
