Humboldt Broncos suspend assistant coach Curtis Toneff citing RCMP charge

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt Broncos Assistant Coach Curtis Toneff has been suspended from his duties following being charged by the RCMP, said a release from the team.

"Curtis will have no further association with the Humboldt Broncos until further notice," said the release, which was posted on the SJHL's website.

The team did not say what Toneff has been charged with.

Humboldt RCMP has not commented on inquires made by the Humboldt Journal about the existence and/or nature of the charge or charges.

The team said it will not make any further comment on the issue while it is before the courts.

The Humboldt Broncos have also removed Toneff from its staff section of its website.

Toneff had joined the Broncos in 2019 after two seasons as the head coach of his hometown Nanaimo Buccaneers, which play in the Junior B Vancouver Island Hockey League.
