Battlefords RCMP have launched an investigation of a sudden death following the discovery of human remains in North Battleford.
Tuesday around 3 p.m., Battlefords RCMP were advised a caretaker had located human remains at an abandoned residence on 99th Street, on the 1900 block.
RCMP immediately sealed off the scene and commenced the investigation. In a media release RCMP said the remains had been inside the residence for an extended period of time, and have also not been positively identified.
An autopsy is set to take place on Saturday in Saskatoon. The cause of death is still unknown.
RCMP will remain on the scene and say they plan to continue to do so until the investigation is concluded. They also say more information will be released as the investigation progresses.
