The Mayfair Housing Authority board of directors hosted a special event to honour three board members for long service.
Ellyn Scotton has served as a volunteer on the Board for 15 years and will continue on the board in her position as secretary. Dorothy Youst and Sally Salisbury have served for 10 years each and will continue on the board as directors.
The Saskatchewan Housing Corporation recognizes volunteers for 10, 15, 20 and 25 plus years of volunteer service. An average of 100 individuals from across the province are recognized on an annual basis.
Scotton, Youst and Salisbury each received a certificate of recognition from the Province of Saskatchewan and a long-service lapel pin from the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation. Trudy Jackson, from the Ministry of Social Services made the presentation.
Jackson thanked these volunteers and fellow board member Anne Van Nortwick and chairperson Alice Gregor for their dedication. Manager, Judy Kennedy, was also praised for her work. Jackson also presented gifts to the three honourees on behalf of Western Region Housing Operations staff.
The Mayfair Housing Authority participates in a network of 276 housing authorities throughout Saskatchewan that are responsible for the management of social and affordable housing for seniors, families and persons with disabilities who are in need of suitable accommodation. The volunteers on the Mayfair Board are responsible for the housing units within their community.
