PRINCE ALBERT – After an extensive selection process, Prince Albert Police Service has appointed Scott Hayes as a new inspector.
Hayes will oversee PAPS’s Criminal Investigation Division that investigates all major files including homicide, attempted murder, missing persons, and child protection.
“Our Criminal Investigation Division is made up of a strong team of experienced investigators working to address crime in our community,” said Chief of Police Jonathan Bergen. “Inspector Hayes has extensive experience working on major crime investigations and is a focused and determined leader who is committed to continued learning.”
Hayes has 16 years experience as a police officer and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He already has more than eight years experience working with the Criminal Investigation Division. In addition, he was a patrol supervisor, a police service instructor, and the team leader of SWAT.
Hayes looks forward to the opportunity to serve Prince Albert in his new role.
“I grew up in Prince Albert and my wife and I are raising our family here,” said Hayes. “I have enjoyed learning and growing in my career and look forward to engaging our organization, partner agencies, and our community on initiatives that target crime and promote public safety for all residents and visitors.”
Hayes has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and worked as a certified exercise physiologist before joining the police service in December 2006.
Hayes takes over CID from Inspector Craig Mushka, who has moved to the role of Inspector in charge of Support Services with PAPS.
