Runners from Humboldt and district enjoyed a beautiful day for a run.
The Humboldt and District Hospital Foundation (HDHF) held their second annual Have a Heart Run on August 28.
"We had over 100 runners and over $15,500 was raised," said Lorrie Bunko, executive director of HDHF.
And that's just the money that has come in so far.
"Pledges are still coming in," said Bunko.
The run had multiple starting points for different distances - full marathon in Watson, half marathon in St. Gregor, 10 kilometre in Muenster and a five kilometre at the Viterra terminal east of Humboldt.
"It is open to anyone of any athletic level," said Bunko. "It caters to really dedicated runners, it caters to families and to people with disabilities because of the different distances."
Bunko also likes the way the start points are throughout the district.
"The hospital symbolizes more than just Humboldt," said Bunko. "It is a district hospital."
The start points brings together the district and ends somewhere where they can all get together.
The run was a success from Bunko's point of view.
"We really appreciate the 100 person mark," said Bunko.
She also appreciates the support they have received from the community.
"We couldn't have done it without our sponsors - Extra Foods, CJVR/CK 750 and Brainsport - it would have been really difficult to do it without them," said Bunko.
This year, HDHF also partnered together with other organizations to make it a success - St. Mary's Villa Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Humboldt and Regional Newcomer Centre, Elizabethan Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and Humboldt and District Community Services.
"These partners were greatly appreciated," said Bunko.
Next year, they will make some changes to the event.
"Next year, we are moving the event back to September," said Bunko. "Our goal is to keep growing the event... We are looking forward to feedback from the participants to make it better yet."
