It's harvest time.
This year's harvest has been going well, due to warm weather and low moisture, said Lisa Britz, agrologist for Viterra in Humboldt.
"So far things here have been going fairly smoothly," said Britz.
According to Britz's calculations, all the crops are coming in around the 50 per cent yield.
Canola is at 35 to 50 per cent and barley is at 70 per cent or higher.
"As of (September 9), there is not a lot of wheat coming in, maybe about 40 to 50 per cent is the average coming up," said Britz.
Although she did not have exact numbers for peas and no flax or canary seed has come in, she explained that so far the outlook for all those crops is good.
"All the crops are fantastic as far as quality goes," said Britz.
With all the moisture in the region last year and in the spring, farmers and agrologists were worried about how crops would turn out this year.
"It is not as bad as we feared," said Britz. "We don't have too much for moisture issues right around Humboldt."
She explained there are a few areas further north which had some water issues, but it's not as bad as it they feared it would be.
"There is a pretty good yield on all crops," Britz explained. "It is pretty close to the average for this time of year."
She also said the weather is agreeable for the harvest this year.
"We are not going to get too much moisture in the next week, which will help the harvest," said Britz. "The quality should stay up there."
