Twenty-two adults completed academic upgrading at the North West Regional Collage and graduated with bright futures June 17.
Four important people talked to them and congratulated them on their success, including Wally Lorenz of the NWRC board of governors.
Bryan Nylander, the NWRC president and CEO, said many people ask why he thinks a community should have this program and his answer is, "Give these people another chance to gain necessary advanced skills."
Everyone deserves another chance and the fact that many of these students go back when they have been out of school for a long time is amazing.
"Keep following your dreams." Nylander said.
Len Taylor, the MLA for the Battlefords, said, "this is a very important day because it signals greatness for these students."
Mayor Ian Hamilton told the graduates they have many options. They can continue their education proudly or go into work force. Whichever they choose they should enter it with great pride, he said.
The mayor also said he hopes North Battleford will play a big role in their futures.
Presented to the graduates to congratulate them on their success were scrolls, roses and a letter from Taylor.
The roses represented a thank you symbol to their love ones. All the graduates during the rose ceremony were able to give the ones who helped them through this journey a rose and say a few words about them.
An honour song for the NWRC graduates was performed by Fletcher Noon from Little Pine First Nation. It was a beautiful First Nation song played on the drums.
A slideshow and a banquet for the graduates completed the program. The graduates raised money in order to have this ceremony and they did a great job in doing so, as they charged only $5 for a ticket.
