His name is David Nass and he called Neilburg home for the past year, but that changed July 9 when the exchange student departed for a holiday, with his parents, to Quebec, Toronto and Halifax, before flying home to Boppard, Germany July 27.

David arrived in Canada in August last year and came to Neilburg to live with Richard and Linda Walde and their family - the twins, Jenna and Jory and son, Arlee.

The organization he was registered with is called ES. Nass came from a town of 2,000 people, and so Neilburg seemed small to him -especially at first.

While in Neilburg, Nass attended Neilburg Composite School and took classes from both the Grade 11 and 12 curriculums. He also was in the senior band and had the opportunity to play guitar at Telemiracle.

He excelled at track and field while representing the local school at higher levels of competition.

Nass was part of the 2010 graduation exercises, although he wasn't officially able to graduate from a Canadian school.

One highlight from his stay was when he had the opportunity to go snowboarding in the Rockies.

"I've really enjoyed it. I don't want to leave and I am going to miss everyone," Nass said just days before heading out for the final leg of his Canadian adventure.

Nass will be taking a little bit of Neilburg home with him in his heart and Neilburg will not forget their exchange student.
