The Saskatchewan Government has announced that its Go Green Fund will provide an operating grant of $500,000 to SaskEnergy to maintain the Energy Efficient New Homes Rebate Program.
Developed in 2007, the program provides a rebate to homeowners who have built or purchased a newly constructed, environmentally friendly home.
In order to qualify for the $1,000 rebate for purchasing or building, homeowners must have a home that is ENERGY STAR( qualified, R-2000 certified, or has an EnerGuide for New Homes rating of 80 or above.
To receive the rebate, new homeowners must complete the rebate form and mail it, along with the required documents, to SaskEnergy within 12 months of their new home possession date.
In the past four years, 1,324 homeowners have received rebates, and the program has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 3,675 annually. To learn more about the Energy Efficient New Homes Rebate Program, as well as other rebates available from SaskEnergy, go to www.saskenergy.com.
