Five people arrested after a man was assaulted had court appearances in Nipawin Provincial Court.
Brennan Carrier, 42, had a show cause hearing June 23 and a decision is expected June 30.
Carriere, and four others, were arrested May 18 after police responded to an assault at a house on the 100 block of Seymour Street at 3:50 a.m. A man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police seized a loaded sawed-off firearm and three illegally owned firearms.
Just hours later police were back at the same residence for a complaint about a break and enter. Two men were arrested after a brief foot chase.
Travis Trites, 37, and Brian Pelly, 35, both from Nipawin, Brennan Carriere, 42, Alvin Thomas, 38, and Adam Settee, 31, all from Cumberland House, were arrested.
On June 7 Thomas’ charges were waived to Prince Albert Provincial Court where he is facing additional charges. He appears July 8. He is charged with break and enter, resisting arrest, failing to comply with a release order, obstructing a public officer, identity fraud, and possession of a controlled substance.
On June 2 Settee pleaded guilty to break and enter, resisting arrest and breach of conditions. He was sentenced to 36 days in jail, fined $400, and banned from owning firearms for 10 years.
Trites is scheduled to appear in Nipawin Provincial Court Sept. 1 to speak to the matter. He is charged with aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited, two counts of possession of a firearm without a valid license, two counts of unsafe storage of a firearm, and failing to comply with a release order. And Pelly, who is charged with aggravated assault, appears in Nipawin Provincial Court June 30.
