A large field is in the race for Rhonda Seidel's old city council seat in North Battleford.
Nominations closed at 4pm on Wednesday, August 10 for candidates seeking to enter the citywide North Battleford council byelection on September 14. The nominated candidates include several familiar names, including some who were on the ballot in past municipal elections.
The candidates who have filed their papers are, in alphabetical order: Steven Cormons, Krista Crockett, Morley Dickson, Dianne Frank, Greg D. Lightfoot, Brian Maunula, Brad Pattinson and Thomas Schwab.
Candidates who had filed by the 4pm deadline still could withdraw their names from nomination within 24 hours. Otherwise, all of those candidates will be on the ballot during the September 14th byelection.
The race is now officially on as candidates will spend the next few weeks getting their message out to voters.
The vote was called after Seidel resigned from council in May to accept a position in Swift Current.
