The Empty Stocking Fund Christmas campaign is now in full swing, on the heels of last week's successful Beef on a Bun fundraiser event at Third Avenue United Church.
Tuesday, executive director Bill Hall released an update on the activities of the campaign so far. In his report, he noted Monday was the first day for families to apply for Christmas hampers. A total of 20 families applied on Monday alone.
Hall says applications will continue to be accepted between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday until Dec. 22, at the Empty Stocking Fund office at 1171 - 101st St. in North Battleford. Those applying are asked to bring ID for themselves and everyone in their household, along with proof of address and information showing their expenses and income.
Also ramping up are efforts by the WPD EMS Elves to collect toysfor kids in the Battlefords. Hall notes toy collectionbins will be placed in several locations next week.
The Empty Stocking Fund will also be collecting donations at various Santa donationboots throughout the community.
The boots will be placed at five locations: Sobeys, Co-op Territorial Mall, Frontier Mall, Wal-Mart and the North Battleford Liquor Store, beginning Thursday, Dec.1.
