The Town of Maidstone is accepting nominations for one councillor position this fall.

Dennis Germain has resigned, leaving a one-year position available.

The Local Government Elections Act has changed and beginning in 2012, elections will be held in October every four years making the terms four years instead of the current three.

The one year position may be attractive to someone who doesn't know if they want to make the longer commitment.

Nomination forms are available at the Town of Maidstone office during regular office hours. The form requires five signatures and must be returned to the town office on Sept. 7 between 9 a.m. and noon or 1 to 4 p.m. If an election is required the polling station will be at the Town of Maidstone office Oct. 12 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with an advance poll Oct. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m.
