Candidates have started to come forward to run in the Sept. 14 North Battleford by-election to fill the council seat vacated earlier this year by Rhonda Seidel.
As of Monday morning, four candidates had come forward to file their nomination papers with city hall in advance of this week's nomination deadline. The four candidates confirmed thus far include Krista Crockett, Greg Lightfoot, Thomas Schwab and former city councillor Brad Pattinson.
There was still the opportunity for more candidates to put their hats into the ring as of press time for the by-election. Nominations were being accepted at North Battleford city hall through Tuesday, Aug. 9.
Prospective candidates needed to be at least age 18, a Canadian citizen, resident of Saskatchewan for at least six consecutive months and a resident of North Battleford for at least three consecutive months.
Voting for the by-election will take place at the lower auditorium of the Civic Centre between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sept. 14. The advance poll is set for Sept. 10 at North Battleford Public Library between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Applications for the mobile poll must be in by Sept. 7.
