After months of torrid activity in North Battleford, building permit values took a steep dive in October.
A total of 15 building permits were issued for $255,750, compared to 13 for $3,188,500 issued for the same month a year earlier.
Of those 15 permits, five were removals/demolitions for properties ordered demolished by the City of North Battleford for a permit value of $18,250. The properties were at 931 - and 951 - 107th St., 622 - 104th St., 1492 - 101st St. and 1241 - 115th St. Ken and Terry's Construction was the contractor retained for that demolition work.
Of the others, two permits were commercial alterations for $129,000, well down from the two issued for $2,175,000 last year. Three residential alterations were issued for $53,500, two garage/carports were issued for $24,000, and three sign permits were issued for $31,000.
Permit values for the year so far are already way up from 2010. Through October, 122 permits were issued for $70,584,350 in 2011, compared to 135 issued for $39,068,800 for the same period in 2010.
The permits report was compiled for North Battleford city council by Building Inspector Jerry Wintonyk and presented at the municipal services meeting Monday.
