After some recent monthly declines, building permits and permit values are once again back up in North Battleford for the month of June.
According to the monthly building permit report released last month, total building permits were up to 18 for the month of June 2011, compared to 16 for the same month a year earlier.
Permit values for June were $2,951,500, well above the $1,258,000 recorded in June 2010.
The monthly numbers, submitted by city building inspector Jerry Wintonyk, are more good news as the city continues to see an increase in permit values over 2010.
For the first six months of 2011, 63 permits have been issued for $38,324,100. compared to 83 permits issued for $30,411,500 for the same period in 2010.
The main reason for the jump in June numbers came as a result of two commercial alteration permits issued for a total value of $1,976,000. None were recorded in the same category in June 2010.
Also contributing to the increase in June was one industrial permit issued for $63,000, and two sign permits were issued for $11,000.
While there were three fewer residential alteration permits in June compared to the same month 2010, the five permits for $95,500 represented an increase in value over the $60,500 figure recorded a year earlier.
As well, there was some good news about new dwellings. Three new dwelling permits were issued for $675,000, up slightly from the two permits issued for $545,000 the year before.
The slight June increase in dwelling permits bucks the trend for 2011 so far, as permits in the new dwellings category are down for the year. Only 12 new dwelling permits have been issued for $2,940,000 compared to 18 for $4,453,000 issued for the first six months of 2010.
There have also been no new condo units permits issued in 2011 compared to three for $2,632,000 for the same period the previous year.
