North Battleford is abuzz with plenty of building activity this month, with five building plans presented to council Monday.
One plan is for a new business, Jaydee Agtech at 10041 Durum Drive, while the others include a new CNR building east of the CN station, two new group homes for Battlefords Residential Services Inc. and Glencoe Developments' new 21-unit condominium. The five building plans were presented by Building Inspector Jerry Wintonyk.
The Jaydee Agtech building plan was described by Wintonyk as "very exciting news for the city of North Battleford - a brand new agricultural dealership."
It will be used for John Deere sales and service at 10041 Durum Ave. is in the M-2 Industrial zone. It is the former Saskatchewan Wheat Pool livestock property. The size on the ground floor is 32,427 square feet main floor and 9896 square feet on the second floor.
The value of the structure is $5,451,600, including 106 parking stalls approved on the plan.
CN is planning to build a new property to the east of the current CN station along Railway Avenue East, to house CN offices and a staff area.
The building, 2,808 square feet, is a pre-built two-piece modular being brought in from a plant in Edmonton. The value is $600,000.
A subject of much discussion at recent meetings, the building of a 21-unit condominium at 2322 Killdeer Drive, was finally brought before council. It is to be built on a vacant lot in the R-4 residential zone.
It will be a three-storey structure of 5,815 square feet. It will include nine 775-square foot units and a dozen 844-square feet units. Prakash Consulting Ltd. of Prince Albert is the engineer for the project and RNF Ventures Ltd. of Prince Albert is the contractor. Twenty-one parking stalls are required. The value is $1,957,000.
Finally, there are two group homes being built for Battlefords Residential Services Inc. One is to be located at 1731 - 102nd St. and the other at 2431 Killdeer Dr. Both would have eight client bedrooms and accommodate two or three staff members.
The size of the Killdeer property is 3,190 square feet and it is valued at $818,600. The one on 102nd Street is 3,548 square feet and is valued at $768,750.
