The North Battleford Bread program has found its latest venue in the Living Faith Chapel, organizer Lyle Smith says.
The program has been providing food to those in need since 1990, and was fortunate enough to acquire the Living Faith Chapel as a venue after the previous venue shut down. The program shares the space at the Living Faith Chapel with Cornerstone Community Outreach, a non-profit organization that feeds between 40 and 60 people every Monday and Wednesday.
Donations of food are provided by Sobeys and Co-op, though private donations of food for both programs are also welcome. Lyle Smith says he hopes one day to establish a permanent soup kitchen and homeless shelter in or around the Battlefords, and is searching for a space to do this in.
