Building permits continue to set a torrid pace in North Battleford with a significant spike upwards last month.
According to the August 2011 numbers, compiled by building inspector Jerry Wintonyk and presented at Monday night's municipal services meeting at City Hall, 16 permits were issued for a value of $5,678,000. That's up from 13 permits issued for $1,345,200 for the same month in 2010.
The main increases for the month were in new commercial alterations, with three permits issued for $1,676,000 compared to none in the same period in 2010; and four new dwelling permits for $935,000 compared to one for $330,000 in 2010. Increases in value were recorded in the new industrial category (one permit for $466,000 compared to one for $137,000 last year) and new commercial (one for $2,500,000 compared to one for $683,000 the previous year).
Four garage/carport permits were issued for $77,000 and three new residential alteration permits were issued for $24,000.
Overall that brings total numbers for 2011 through August to 94 permits issued for $56,268,600. That compares to 105 permits for $33,888,5000 for the same period in 2010.
