Arson on Moosomin FN school

A 15-year old youth has been charged with arson after a fire destroyed a detached classroom located near Moosomin School on August 18. The incident happened at around 8:30pm in the evening.

A 15-year old youth has been charged with arson after a fire destroyed a detached classroom located near Moosomin School on August 18.

The incident happened at around 8:30pm in the evening. According to police, the detached classroom trailer next to the school was broken into and set ablaze. The building was totally destroyed, as were the contents. As well, the fire damaged the outside of another building next door.

In a release issued Tuesday, Battlefords RCMP said they had charged a 15-year old female from Moosomin First Nation with arson in connection to the case.

The youth, who cannot be named because of the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is due to appear in provincial court in North Battleford on September 23 in connection to the case.
