SASKATOON - It was a busy day for police on Saturday trying to arrest a man who was evading them in Saskatoon.

On Sept. 21 at approximately 9:30 p.m. police located a vehicle driving westbound on 33rd Street West near Avenue P North that had evaded police earlier that morning.

Officers began to follow the vehicle as members of the Air Support Unit (ASU) began monitoring the vehicle from the sky. The driver fled, evading police at a high rate of speed. The vehicle continued to drive at a high rate of speed throughout the city before a tire deflation device was successfully deployed on Warman Road near Cavers Street.

The vehicle came to a stop after colliding with another vehicle near the Circle Drive overpass; however, the driver then exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot.

Shortly after, the driver was arrested.

As a result, a 24-year-old man is facing charges relating to evading police, impaired driving, dangerous driving, obstructing police, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and failure to comply with court-ordered conditions.
