Neilburg鈥檚 Terry Simon has a unique way of playing his Zing tickets. Rather than scratch the whole ticket, he鈥檒l just scratch the bar code and then use the ticket checker in store to see if he鈥檚 a winner. 鈥淚t just adds a bit of excitement,鈥 he noted.
He probably didn鈥檛 need to add much extra excitement to the Triple Millions ticket he played on May 17, though 鈥 when Simon went through his routine he was stunned to find that he was walking away $3 million richer!
鈥淚t blew me away,鈥 recalled Simon. 鈥淚 thought it was $3,000, which was nice, but then they told me it was $3 million, and I just said 鈥樷ow.鈥欌
Simon immediately called his son while still at the store where he picked up the winning ticket 鈥 the Shell at 5635 44th Street on the Alberta side of Lloydminster.
鈥淚 told him 鈥榯he farm鈥檚 paid for. I just won $3 million,鈥欌 laughed Simon. 鈥淎nd he said 鈥榳ow鈥 鈥 well鈥ot 鈥榳ow,鈥 but this is the PG version.鈥
聽Simon already has some plans for his windfall. He鈥檒l be splitting it up for his sons and grandchildren 鈥 鈥渇amily鈥檚 a big thing,鈥 he notes 鈥 and helping out a few people he knows who could use a hand. Beyond that, Simon鈥檚 plans don鈥檛 extend too much further than the lake.
鈥淚鈥檒l probably go fishing more. Maybe in a fancier boat鈥ith a fancier truck,鈥 he chuckled.
