$15,000 to clean up after vandals

An oil spill at an oilfield lease site in the Edam area that will cost an estimated $15,000 to clean up was caused by vandals, according to Turtleford RCMP. Police say perpetrators entered the site sometime between 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.

An oil spill at an oilfield lease site in the Edam area that will cost an estimated $15,000 to clean up was caused by vandals, according to Turtleford RCMP.

Police say perpetrators entered the site sometime between 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday and tampered with a holding tank.

The resulting spill of 30 to 35 cubic metres of oil was contained by the lease berm.
