The facility, being constructed by Miners Construction Co. Ltd. with an April competition, will be located on the same site as Discovery Ford Sales, 2307 Eighth Ave., at the west end of the city.
It will serve as a replacement for the former facility on the east side of the city, which will be leased out to another company.
Amy Doepker, marketing manager for Discovery Ford Sales Ltd., said with success over the last couple of years at the previous body shop location and the recent announcement of the BHP’s local Jansen Potash Project, they felt ready to expand.
“The completion of this body shop on the same site as Discovery Ford Sales will provide a better working environment for all employees at both locations,” Doepker said, adding that this will serve as a one-stop shop.
“This new $3.5 million state-of-the-art facility will allow us to add specialty equipment, allowing us to repair vehicles back to OEM specifications, ensuring the safety of our customers.”
This new building is expected to allow the company to accommodate larger vehicles as well as have the capacity to work on over a dozen vehicles at the same time, which is leading to the creation of the eight to ten new jobs.
While Doepker said other positions are planned to open up closer to the opening, currently they’re seeking two full-time body technicians and two full-time paint/preparation technicians.
Resumes are asked to be dropped off at Discovery Edge Collision & Glass for Jeff. If they’re unable to deliver it in person, email [email protected].
The deadline to apply is Sept. 30. Both jobs ask for Grade 12, with no previous experience necessary.
