Seniors' week celebration full of music and laughter

Last week was Seniors' Week. (Note to children from parents: On the day when you see us old, weak and weary, have patience to try to understand us.) Maymont held a potluck supper with close to 50 people in attendance.

Maymont Firefighters responded to Radisson's call for help with an aggressive grass fire Sept. 28.

Last week was Seniors' Week. (Note to children from parents: On the day when you see us old, weak and weary, have patience to try to understand us.) Maymont held a potluck supper with close to 50 people in attendance. The audience was entertained by several musicians: Jack Alm, Helmi and Arnie Loewen, Bob Mallett and our own Maymont entertainers Bert Carpentier, Tom Caldwell and Mel Deagnon. Also entertaining, and always a pleasure to hear, was John Archer, comedian and musician. Thank you, everyone, for attending this event.

There was also a potluck supper with entertainment in Borden at the seniors' center. Mel Deagnon and Tom Caldwell, along with Walt Dumont, Vern Hoknes and Ernie Degenhardt, were there to entertain the seniors. (Ah, music ... a magic beyond all we do here.)

Please take note that Oct. 18 will be flu shot day at the Seniors Center in Maymont.

Thanksgiving. The year has turned its circle. The seasons come and go. The harvest all is gathered in and chilly north winds blow. Orchards have shared their treasures, the fields, their yellow grain, so open wide the doorway, Thanksgiving comes again! (author unknown)

Happy Thanksgiving to all our family and friends. Mel and I are thankful for all the new friends we have found since moving to Maymont.

A big salute to all those firefighters from Maymont who went to Radisson to help put out the grass fire Sept. 28.

Getting excited? Only two weeks left until our Legends 2, have you got your tickets yet?

Our house band will be led by Jon Sloan and Mel Deagnon will be the MC. Don't forget our special guest star, Elvis. Some tickets are still available. Please call Carol or Mel and if we're not home leave a message, 389-2440. Tickets are $15 and show time is 7:30 p.m. at Maymont Memorial Hall, Oct. 15.
