The Humboldt and District Kinettes held their first ever Diva Kinnection on February 27 at the Bella Vista Inn as a fundraiser for Telemiracle.
"It turned out really good," said Carol Pratt, one of the organizers of the event which was geared towards female attendees.
Patrons at the event enjoyed the booths set up, she claimed.
"People like the interactive part of the booths," said Pratt.
The booths did not just showcase items for sale, they all had interactive aspects. There were massage tables, manicures, and other pampering activities.
"We also had a really good spread of raffle and silent auction items," said Pratt.
In the room adjacent to the booths, the Kinettes had guest speakers and a couple of fashion shows for the women to enjoy.
But the highlight of the day was guest speaker Cecile Halyk from the Breast of Friends of Foam Lake, who spoke about the group's cookbook that they put together to raise money for breast cancer research after one of their friends was diagnosed with the disease.
"Her story was so amazing," said Pratt. "While she was speaking, it was so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop."
The event raised over $3,000 for the Kinettes to take to Telemiracle on March 5-6.
The Kinettes will not only be making a donation to Telemiracle this year. They will also be answering phones on stage.
Pratt encourages people to phone in and donate to Telemiracle while the Humboldt and District Kinettes are on stage, especially during a knock down.
