Snow keeps piling up

More snow was falling Monday morning. With snow falling nearly every day, it is piling up. Although there is not as much snow here as in many places, we do have more snow than we have had for a few years.

Threatre production coming together

The cast of the annual dinner theatre are hard at work preparing for performances April 15,16 and 17. The play this year is A Little Piece of Heaven, a comedy/drama with a cast of 14. Tickets will go on sale March 7 at $25 each.

Slide show features local landscape

Kaiser was played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre on Valentine's Day with a small turnout. Lunch was provided by Lil McMillan. Winners of prize draws were Dorothy Schwartz and Milt McMillan. Bingo was played Feb. 16 with a good crowd in attendance.

Tuned into the Scotties

Chloe and Lee Burt held a sleepover with Great-grandma Norma Lott. Last week was a holiday from school, so they had a chance to visit. Some of the apartment ladies are staying in where it is warm and watching the Tournament of Hearts curling.

Orolow riders take home cash prizes

Orolow Church northeast of Borden held a snowmobile rally Feb.19 with over 120 riders taking part. Top prize of $900 went to Rodger Pederson of Blaine Lake. Other winners were Aaron Gross of Saskatoon $540 and Evelyn Paulson of Langham $360.

Athletes keep their eyes on the birdies

Maymont Central School badminton teams have begun after school practices. Mrs. Deline coaches the junior players, and the senior players are coached by Mr. Olchowski. The Maymont Broomball team captured the bronze at a tournament held in Bruno.

High school curlers see action

The Unity curling rink and hockey rink, of course, continue to be active this time of year. Unity Comprenesive High School was proud to have high school senior teams win district play downs to qualify for their respective regional Play downs Feb.
Coffee buddy bid farewell

Coffee buddy bid farewell

A gathering of the Maymont seniors took place Feb. 17 to bid farewell to Margaret Johnston who is moving to Lloydminster, Alta. Margaret will be residing in the Pioneer Lodge which is an assisted living facility.

Supper to honour volunteers

The Marsden Golden Age Seniors had their meeting Feb. 14. Kaye Graham celebrated her birthday and a lovely cake was enjoyed by 13 members. The Marsden Seniors will have a silent auction and bake sale on March 17 for St. Patrick's Day.

Drop In Centre walking program enjoyable

Shirley James of Waseca visited her mom Tillie Linkert and took her to do some shopping. Sympathy to the Churn family on the passing of Thelma Churn, a former Maidstone resident.
