Nine rinks compete in ladies' spiel

Yes I know that I have not had news in for over a month. I've been a tad on the lazy side and not making time to get the column written. To get things caught up I should start with the ladies' bonspiel. This year there were nine teams entered.

Special birthday celebrated

Last week Riley and Chantell treated their mom, Colleen Koski, to supper out. Congratulations to Dorothy Kissick, who celebrated her 90th birthday March 16. Craig, Theresa and Tyler Kissick took her out for supper.

Three residents pass away

During the month of March, the Richard, Maymont and Ruddell communities were saddened by the loss of three of their own. March 3, James (Jim) Tebay passed away at the age of 94.

Take some time to enjoy the current exhibition at the Allen Sapp Gallery. Peh Mitchisook (Come and Eat) is a collection of Allen Sapp paintings that relates to activities around the creation and enjoyment of a meal.

Hall spiffed up and ready for activities

This is the time of year when clean up jobs around the village are being done. First on the agenda was the community hall. A good crowd gathered there Saturday and cleaned it completely. Even the hall sign will be refurbished.

Some lessons from Dirty '30s still with us today

I would have to say that what would be my favourite time of the year seems to be again poking its head around the corner and giving us a glimpse of what it has in store for us.

Snowmobile rally relegated to ham supper and cash draws

The Borden Community Centre Preservation Committee held a ham supper March 10, which was to have been a snowmobile rally but there was no snow. Close to 80 attended.
