Auxiliary takes summer break

Members of the Maidstone Legion Ladies' Auxiliary met June 4 with eight members present. There wasn't too much business to be discussed. The group will be recessed for July and August. Hope we will see you all after the holiday.

The North Battleford Good Neighbour Network has been having the Neighbourhood Wellness Block Party for a number of years. The fifth annual Neighbourhood Wellness Block Party will be held on Sept. 7 from noon to 6 p.m.

Sonningdale Hall was the scene of a going away get together for Harold and Iris Close, June 9. A barbecue and smorgasbord was enjoyed by all. It was a packed house.

Filming of the controversial and entertaining play, Antigone, wrapped up June 7 with a film shoot in front of a studio audience at the Don Ross Centre. The film of Antigone, written by Deanne Kasokeo, was directed by Norman Cohn and Floyd Favel.

It sounds as though the summer will be a busy one with many anniversaries, showers and weddings. Congratulations to Mary (Blyth) and Harold Holtby of Marshall who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 8.

At the start of Grade 12 for our daughter, I said I would be panicking by the first day of summer. Here it is and yes, I am panicking. The to-do list for graduation still seems long but the days of having our girl at home seem to be getting shorter.

Tuesday was a beautiful day and it was great to see the sunshine after the lovely rain. A dozen Battlefords Art Club members gathered and more plans were made for our art show and sale to be held at the Meota sailing regatta building July 13 and 14.

HMR Sport Horse Club hosts spring fling

The HMR Sport Horse Club Inc. hosted the Spring Fling, a two-day open heritage circuit horse show, May 25 and 26. The show took place at Hidden Meadows Ranch northwest of Battleford.
