North Battleford Housing Authority and Battleford Housing Authority have named 2012 Yard Pride Contest winners.

Both housing authorities hold annual yard pride contests to celebrate and encourage excellence in yard care, says NBHA manager Jeremy Reynoldson.

"Many of our tenants have lovely yards and we like to acknowledge the time and effort they put into yard care," he said.

Monthly winners are selected throughout June, July and August. From those winners, grand prize winners are then selected and share in $500 in prizes.

In North Battleford, this year's grand prize winner is Nicole Studney. Second prize was awarded to Carrie Day and third prize went to Donavin and Kristal Night. Honourable mention awards went to Angela Erickson and Dianne Fineday and Marcia Lonesinger.

In Battleford, first prize was awarded to Greg Lavallee and Fern Holmes. Second prize was awarded to Melody Payne and third went to Tracy Antoine. Honourable mention awards went to Cheryl Ross and Arlen and Tracy Smith.

"Yard care in both Battleford and North Battleford was excellent this year. It was quite a challenge selecting our winners as so many of our tenants really excelled this year," said Reynoldson.

NBHA and BHA exist to ensure, on behalf of Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, that adequate, affordable, and well-maintained housing is accessible to all residents of North Battleford. NBHA manages 623 rental units in both communities.
