Wrestler brings home gold from Moose Jaw tourney

The temperature didn't rise above - 10 C Sunday and the bitter wind made it feel much colder. Even though April is here it doesn't feel much like spring.

Although Arlee Lumgair was not able to watch her grandson wrestle at the provincial wrestling held in Moose Jaw March 29, she was excited to know that he had won gold in his category. The team he plays with, the Northern Pikes, won some gold medals since they accumulated enough points in their category (a team of 12 or less), to come out on top. Congratulations! Arlan and his mother, Shawna Lumgair, travelled to Moose Jaw for the event.

Waseca Recreation Board met April 2 to discuss the results of the fish fry evening and make plans for the annual combined recreation board and hall board annual meeting April 27. They will also plan for a table at the Maidstone Trade Fair where they will, among other things, be selling tickets on the Father's Day draw.

The recreation board - hall board annual meeting will be chaired by the hall board this year. Supper is to be at 5 p.m. followed by the meeting at which various committees will be giving their reports.

Renee Donovan and Sandra Sutherland will be representing the Silver Lake Regional Park at the Saskatchewan Regional Parks Conference to be held in Saskatoon April 4 and 5.

Recreational hockey has been popular with many from the district and village. Curtis Sutherland and Darran Blyth played on a district team at a tournament in Lloydminster March 28 and 29. What was known as the Waseca Team played in a tournament in Maidstone April 21 and 22. Curtis, Jaimie, Shane and Mathew Sutherland and Mark and Morgan Thomarat all played on the team.

Rugby practice is ongoing and high school badminton is keeping some students busy.
