Are you itching for Halloween yet? Costumes and decorations are already in the stores so you had better move fast this year because the Children's Wish Foundation North Battleford is holding their 3rd annual "Wishmaker Walk for Wishes" Oct. 13.

Running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Halloween is the theme, so please dress up. You may even win a prize for best costume, just make sure it is comfortable to walk in.

Some Paynton residents, including Roxanne Valliere, are going to be at Fort Battleford Oct. 13 to pledge their support to the foundation and all of the children that it helps.

Money raised will help grant wishes to children ages three to 17 living with life threatening illnesses. The event co-ordinator is still looking for a child in the area who has received a wish and would like to share their story. Any and all "wish kids" are invited to come walk or just hang out at the event and are invited to share their stories.

Currently the foundation is working to grant 70 wishes to children in Saskatchewan, which is no small task. They are encouraging people to sign up online to participate in the walk and help raise money. Following the walk, guests will be treated to door prizes, a barbecue lunch and a presentation.

Dress up for the walk and you could win a prize. There will also be prizes for youngest and oldest walkers and team/individual with highest dollars raised. To participate, donate or volunteer, please contact Fi Smythe at 306-446-3371 or sign up online at www.wishmaker.ca and click on the link that reads "Is there a walk near me?"

Paynton Farmers' Market has drawn to a close for the season. After a summer of weekly markets, the village has to go cold turkey until Nov. 24 when the vendors will set up for one more time in 2012 at the annual Christmas Craft and Bake Sale.

The event will include a fundraiser this year; Paynton Recreation Facility needs a new roof, so various Paynton organizations are teaming up to bring the community together.

Starting in the morning at the craft and bake sale, table fees will go to the fundraiser along with the library ladies' lunch money. Throughout the day, a "Paynton's Got Talent" show will be running. Anyone with any talent from magic to music is invited to play for the guests in return for a meal.

Later in the evening, when the sale is over, Paynton volunteer firefighters are hosting the dance portion of the evening with 50/50 tickets and door prizes. More details are to come as the event draws closer, please contact 895-4225 for more information or to sign up.
