What to do when there’s a boil water advisory

The Maymont boil water advisory was lifted Friday afternoon just after lunch.

If someone wants to know what needs to be done when you receive a boil water advisory, this is what you can’t do with the water, especially for ingested use: brushing teeth or soaking false teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, for food, for a drink which will not be subsequently heated and ice cubes.

You also can’t use the water for washing dishes unless the water has been boiled or the dishes are sanitized in another fashion. Washed dishes and utensils can be soaked in a bleach water solution of approximately 10 millilitres of bleach per litre of water for at least two minutes to kill any bacteria which may be present.

Thank you, Dawn Gray at the Maymont Hotel who had a German supper Tuesday. The food was absolutely amazing. Happy birthday, Dawn.

So for all our sickies in Maymont — Pat Beaudoin, trying a new electronic pain reliever product; Wendy Sherlock who has a broken wrist; Mary Carpentier who’s having problems eating, Mary Ann Doyle, June Rogers who has several health problems; and Mel Deagnon, the same — we wish you all, anyone I may have missed, speedy recoveries.

The potluck supper at the seniors Thursday went well. Thanks to all those who attended and helped with the event.

More news to follow next week about the event that happened at the library Friday.
