Please take your time travelling this long weekend. The life you save might just be your own. As well, life jackets are part of your safety on the water. Ensure you and your family are covered.
After two solid weekends of action at the diamonds, Unity is set to host the last of their big events at the ball diamonds venue. The U19 ladies’ Western Canadian softball championship will begin Friday with nine teams from vying for the title. The host team, Unity Panthers, weren’t content to just have a host spot as they won their provincial title, doubly earning their right to represent as Team Sask. No. 1.
Baseball has wrapped up their provincial quests. Mosquitoes and bantams both had close games and ended up in playoffs Sunday, however neither team was able to advance. I didn’t have pee wee Cardinals and midget Cardinals results from the July 27 weekend before this was submitted. I will update that information later.
Good luck to the U14 and U16 teams that travel this weekend to compete in Western Canadian championship events. It has been a great year for minor ball teams and the community is excited to hear the results of the events yet to be played.
Coffee row folks are reviewing a busy July and anticipating and discussing what they have on tap for August. Garden talk, crop review and weather predictions are also part of these daily conversations. And, you can be assured golf, the Riders and the Jays aren’t too far from the topic table. So you can see life is full of fun and activity in Unity with our friends at coffee row sharing this traditional part of our community culture. Until next time …
