Welcome Wagon celebrates the arrival of new residents of the Battlefords with a wide range of gifts, coupons and other items to familiarize people to a new community.
When Jackie Pitman from Welcome Wagon heard our mascot Claudette Caddidlehopper hadn’t received her gift basket yet, she came right over to drop it off. The items Claudette received included coupons, a phone book, information guides, a lint remover and Mary Kay cosmetics, among others. The coupons from local businesses offer discounts on goods and services.
Claudette has been in the Battlefords for over a year. She moved here from Calgary, where she was spotted in the toy section at Indigo and was purchased by editor Becky Doig.
Welcome Wagon is a Canadian tradition since 1930. In addition to welcoming new arrivals to the community, the organization also heralds the births of babies and those getting married. Those seeking information or wanting to let the organization know of any new arrivals in the Battlefords can contact Pitman at 306-490-8140.
