April 9 has been designated Red Cross Day of Pink.

Wednesday, April 9 has been designated Red Cross Day of Pink, a day to celebrate respect and to encourage others to join in the belief that every child should be treated with respect. This means taking a stand against bullying every day.

In Saskatchewan, SaskEnergy is sponsoring Day of Pink along with the Red Cross.

Schools and businesses are being encouraged to register with the Red Cross for kits, tips and tools, some free of charge, and to order Day of Pink gear such as t-shirts, hats and stickers.

All funds raised by the sale of t-shirts goes to educating Saskatchewan youth about bullying behaviour issues.

The Red Cross has been working for more than 25 years to educate about violence, abuse and bullying prevention.

More information is available about Day of Pink in Saskatchewan at www.redcross.ca/PinkSK. There is also an option at that site to donate. All donations stay in the province, educating youth on how to recognize, respond to and prevent bullying behaviour.

"Just $385 can educate one classroom."
