The family of Mrs. Dorothy Ponto honoured her on Saturday, June 22 on the occasion of her 80th birthday. An open house was held at the Waseca Community Centre from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Many friends and relatives attended enjoying lunch, which included birthday cake, and lots of visiting with Dorothy and all. We wish Dorothy many more happy birthdays.

Lots of heavy rain showers have not improved the streets in Waseca and surrounding country roads. Hopefully a grader will soon get into the village and some gravel will be spread.

A bylaw enforcement office, Mr. R. Klassen, is now making a regular appearance in the village. He began his work in May.

More trees and perennials have been planted in the village and at the Waseca Cemetery, These have all been given to the village and planted by willing volunteers. Good work!

Friday evening some members of the Waseca Recreation Board and others met at the community centre. One of the main topics of discussion was the possibility of having a Cultural Day in September. Many ideas were brought forward and discussed, from a mini quilt show to craft displays. Any ideas would be welcome. It could be a very interesting event.

All those interested are invited to attend a village public meeting to be held at the Community Centre on the evening of July 31 at 7 p.m. The topic to be discussed is the Official Community Plan Zoning Bylaw. Suggestions and questions will be welcome.

Among the Waseca Grade 12 graduands this year was Chase James. Sorry your name was left off the list, Chase. We wish you and the others success and happiness in your future endeavours.
