Several snowmen were constructed on the playground by the younger students. They spent many recesses rolling snow into the perfect sized balls to make the body and head. They searched for the right sticks to make the arms and face. Now those snowmen have melted and all that remains on the ground are a few sticks. The warm weather took care of all their hard work.
The junior boys' basketball team played exhibition games against Hafford and Poundmaker. They played well and were victorious in both matches. On the weekend they attended the conference playoffs in Unity.
Several students and staff members attended the Saskatchewan Rush Lacrosse game against Calgary at the SaskTel Centre on Friday evening. It was an action-packed game and moved quickly. The home team won and it was a great opportunity to see our national sport played live in Saskatoon.
February is Aboriginal Storytelling month. The Grade 4 and 5 class was invited to the Maymont Library to hear a story told by librarian Linda Casey. Following the story, which featured puppets, the students returned to the school with a mask craft. The Grades 2 and 3 class will be going to the library for a story at a later date.
The school staff was treated to lunch Thursday provided by Living Sky School Division. This was in recognition of Staff Appreciation Week. It was a nice treat and greatly appreciated.
The School Community Council provided a taco in a bag lunch to all staff and students Friday during the school's Winter Olympics. Staff did not have to make their own lunch two days in a row.
As well as organizing the Winter Olympic activities, the SLC sponsored a red and pink day Thursday. They also sold Crush-O Grams during the week and they were delivered Thursday.
The Travel Club is starting to make final preparations for their trip to Italy and Switzerland. They depart bright and early Friday, March 18.
Kindergarten students now attend school three days a week. They now come on Fridays in addition to Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The school will be closed next week.
