Warm temps encourage trade show shoppers

The sun broke through the clouds this past weekend, stretching its warm fingers across Wilkie. After the past six months of snow and cold, many took advantage of the weather, venturing out and about to enjoy it.

The sun broke through the clouds this past weekend, stretching its warm fingers across Wilkie. After the past six months of snow and cold, many took advantage of the weather, venturing out and about to enjoy it.

The Saskcan Community Centre was busy Saturday for the Wilkie Spring Trade Show. Doors opened at 10 a.m. and didn't close until 4 p.m., giving many a chance to come out and take in the event. Tami Sittler, along with the help of Jamie Volk, organized the trade show, with other local vendors helping with the set up and take down of the event.

With a wide variety of vendors - approximately 30 were on hand - there was plenty of merchandise to browse through and purchase. A few vendors travelled a distance, coming from Lashburn, Lloydminster and Vermilion to promote their products.

Shoppers came, not only to see what there was to offer, but to enjoy the company of friends and family while enjoying a coffee or bite to eat. Laura Schwab and her crew were on site cooking up delicious food throughout the day which is always a delight to many.

It was a successful day with many vendors asking Sittler to make the trade show an annual event, which she says she will "definitely keep it in mind for next year!" Sittler also says, "community support is key for the success of these events."
