Volunteers helping with seniors' centre renovations

A government grant was received by the Maymont Seniors' Centre to replace the old cupboards and put in new flooring. Work started March 21 and will continue until the project is complete. Thank you to all those who are helping with the renovations.

A government grant was received by the Maymont Seniors' Centre to replace the old cupboards and put in new flooring. Work started March 21 and will continue until the project is complete.

Thank you to all those who are helping with the renovations. That would be the volunteers.

What exactly is a volunteer? A volunteer is a person who actively takes on a task, responsibility or project on his or her own accord without needing to be assigned, ordered or told to do so. Often a volunteer is not paid for the work they provide.

For example, a volunteer may desire to work at a charity event, such as those who help in Maymont with all the fundraising we do at the seniors' centre and also at the hall. Some ask to help without being asked to help - we thank you for that.

The key to our success rests in people like you, who embody the spirit of greatness by saying "Yes I can, and so can you!" Thanks for your inspiring dedication and tremendous example to the Village of Maymont. I don't have to mention names; I'm sure you all know who you are.

The seniors are also selling tickets for a gift basket and an afghan donated by Kay Greenslade. Tickets will be one for $2 or three for $5. Check with any of the senior members of the hall for tickets, and good luck.

Maymont will be holding another trade show, May 24 in the Maymont Hall. Anyone wishing to book a table for $15, please call Carol at 1-306-389-2440. Shop for birthdays, anniversaries or just for yourself. Lots of great vendors attend. Admission will be $3 and lunch can be purchased with all proceeds going to Maymont Hall. Please join us.

Keep watching for information on a garage sale we will be having at the hall. Enjoy your week.
