"A Taste of Neilburg" was held in the Neilburg Composite School gym Dec. 8 with students making food from various countries.  Bailey Zweifel (left) and Dominic Granger (right) teamed up to present information on Switzerland.  They served cheese fondue (with bread and vegetables to dip) and Tobelrone chocolate.

The month of November has ended, as has the Grade 5 and 6 volleyball at Neilburg Composite School. Coaches Mrs. Newport and Miss Massey report they had 15 students sign up to play volleyball this year. They were: Jorin Black, Carter Cammidge, Dianne Dimaano, Lindsay Gibbons, Craig Hewko, Dominic Madlang-Awa, Wyatt Marshall, John Peters, Hannah Prystupa, Henry Rempel, Jarrod Ryan, Clayton Schmidt, Colton Schmidt, Bennie Siemens and Dustin Spence.

They had noon hour practices where students worked on serving and bumping. Then, Nov. 23 and 28, the group played games against Marsden. The teams did well serving and often had two or three bumps before returning the ball to the other team. They had lots of fun and the students showed how they improved their serving and bumping skills over the short season. Well done, Grade 5 and 6!

Mrs. Heeroma and the Grade 3 and 4 class appreciate recent efforts made by Scott Goodfellow and Mike Fouhse. The pair brought the fire truck to school. They did a very commendable job of showing the students the truck and all the equipment firefighters use, including their clothing, masks, air packs, all the gauges on the truck and much more - despite a very strong wind and biting cold. Everyone learned things about the job these valuable volunteers do for the community.

Jason and Leslie Flicek have kindly made a generous donation of ground beef for the NCS school and hot lunch program. A huge thank you also goes to the Neilburg Seniors' Centre for their donation of handmade mittens for the students. It gives a supply to use in case students lose their own mittens or get them wet at recess.

The preschool Christmas concert was held Dec. 15 in the Neilburg Community Hall. After the little ones performed, some snacks and refreshments were served.

The annual Christmas craft sale was held in the Neilburg Community Hall Nov. 26. The event was very well attended with many exhibitors, some coming from some distance to display their wares.

The winners of the door prizes were Mary Graham (necklace donated by Gudrun Reid, Gemstone Jewellery of North Battleford), Eileen Graham (commemorative coin donated by Marvin Ebach of Waldheim), Martin Otteson (Watkins product, donated by Larry Ebach, Waldheim), Kailee McGarry (Tupperware donated by Sylvia Olsen) and Edna Jeffrey (paring knife donated by Ione Dueck of Kozy Knook Krafts).

Other winners were Karrie Blackbeard, Irene Ducherer, Rose Leitheiser, Bernadette Poppleton, Olena Henning, Cheryl Rowswell, Ashley Loetkeman, Ione Dueck, Holly Britz, and Arlene McAleer.

The Neilburg Hall Club had a booth selling lunch throughout the day. The organizers appreciate the support of all in the community who make this event possible.
