HUMBOLDT — A drive-in movie event will help a local non-profit raise money to support youth mentorship.
On Thursday, Aug. 20 at 8:30 p.m., Big Brothers Big Sisters of Humboldt will be showing Toy Story 4 at the Uniplex parking lot. Gates open at 7 p.m.
Jodie Hergott, the organization's development co-ordinator, said the drive-in event is more important than ever before, especially since it had to cancel its big summer golf event, Diva For A Day.
“It's very important that we are able to still follow through with an event that has a chance to make us some good money for the agency's budget,” she said.
Hergott said businesses have stepped up to help sponsor the event.
“We were a little nervous, of course, with the effect of the pandemic. But our supporters have come through and we were pretty blessed to have a good list of sponsorship for this year's event.”
. There will be a concession on site.
To follow provincial health guidelines, vehicles must be separated by a minimum of two metres, with only individuals from the same household may occupy the same vehicle. Physical distancing of at least two metres must be observed at all times when outside the vehicle.
Hergott said the movie appeals to all ages.
“You may think that it's just for children, but I've seen it and there's quite a bit of adult humor in there but the kids won't necessarily pick up on, so it's a great family movie.”
