Nature continues to surprise us. Recently one evening, I discovered a raccoon on my deck and decided it was time to buy an animal trap.
After several days trying to catch the raccoon, I decided to concentrate on the squirrels. I thought there were two here who were always in the bird-feeding tray. However I caught seven and yet another one appeared. I caught eight but, when I approached the trap, there were two little ones running around the trap. The one inside I suppose was their mother. I had been taking the trapped squirrels north to a wooded area where I hoped they'd be happy. I didn't have the heart to take the mother away from her babies so now I have at least three squirrels!
Happy belated special birthday to Debbie Pike. Her family organized a birthday party which took place at her home May 31. Family and friends gathered and enjoyed lots of visiting, good food and birthday cake. The children enjoyed the trampoline and playing with soccer balls. Happiness and good health in the year to come, Debbie!
The usual summer work continues at the cemetery with volunteers keeping the grass cut, seeding grass where needed and keeping the grave tops swept clean.
Get well wishes to Yvonne Pike who recently underwent surgery and is now recuperating. Hope you'll soon be back to normal, Yvonne!
