Tough love had me on the scale Monday

I ran into some Lisa style tough love last week when I chickened out of my Monday weigh in. And the scale Thursday proved her point, as I was up a pound over the previous week.

So, I not only ran 4.8 km with Lisa and a few other NAC members that Thursday, I vowed to pull up my socks and face the scale Monday. I wasn't exactly saintly on the weekend, but I was active in my yard and took a couple of hikes. I plotted all the good and all the bad in my journal.

Even so, I was extremely nervous driving over to NAC. But, the scale readout had inched downward - a mere half pound, but it was in the right direction.

I mention the run in an off hand way, but what I'd really like to do is brag loudly. But I can't seem to find anyone to impress. I was a cross-country runner as a teenager, but anyone who knows me can attest that was a mighty long time ago. Since then the only running I have done is associated with boot camp and I always liken my technique as that of a Clydesdale among gazelles. So to hang in there for a full 4.8 km was an astounding accomplishment. I credit the endurance I built up over the winter working out at the gym and through Keith's killer one-on-one sessions and, of course, boot camp.

Our current session of boot camp started Monday and will continue for three days a week for the next six weeks. It's really a great way to get outdoors and enjoy some challenging exercise with like-minded boot camp groupies.

If you think you'd like to try a session, or if you have any tips to help me with my plateau, send me an email at [email protected].
