Members of the Rivers' Edge Quilt Guild left the first meeting of the year anticipating a busy fall schedule.
In addition to comfort quilts, pillows for the needy and tote bag making, there will be a three-day colour theory class that will result in a small quilt.
Heather Hochbaum, program co-ordinator, has included a "Three Day Madness Marathon" to brighten November days.
Yes, the evidence is in, as proved by the show and tell part of the meeting. Quilting is no longer exclusively for the making of quilts, it would seem, as the projects displayed included wall hangings, table runners and mats and a variety of bags, all of which left members feeling inspired and their creative spirit regenerated.
Frances Wright from Maidstone, who had facilitated a bag workshop in July, attended our meeting as a special guest. She is seen in one of the pictures, third from the right, together with the workshop participants and their completed projects. What an achievement.
A moment of silence was held to celebrate the life of Louise Nykiforuk, who passed away recently. She was a founding member of the guild, held various executive positions, was a mentor to many and a valued friend to all. Louise will be missed.
