Thanksgiving brings a round of visitors

Hi there! Well it does look like winter around here now. We had about a foot of snow a week ago very cold winds. I'm afraid this is just a taste of what's about to come, folks. However, even if it's cold outside it has been nice and warm in Tower II.

Hi there! Well it does look like winter around here now. We had about a foot of snow a week ago very cold winds. I'm afraid this is just a taste of what's about to come, folks.

However, even if it's cold outside it has been nice and warm in Tower II.

Many of our tenants spent Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Shirley Tebay celebrated with son Dennis and daughter-in-law in Metinota. Several other family members were present, including four great-granddaughters. They all enjoyed a lovely turkey supper with all the trimmings.

The next day Shirley went to Edmonton for four days with son Dale and daughter-in-law Joyce from Meota. They visited another son, Douglas and Terry, and Pat. She also had a lovely Thanksgiving treat with seeing two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Six family members were leaving for Yuma, Arizona, so Shirley had them all over for supper here before they left. You must have had a busy but wonderful time with all your family, Shirley.

Anne Hrynuik and Ray Corbeil journeyed to Esterhazy to visit family for Thanksgiving. Hope you enjoyed yourselves, folks.

Harry Smith had a great Thanksgiving with all of his family on the farm.

Ada Pusutto and her family travelled to Vernon, B.C. to be with her son for Thanksgiving. Hope you all enjoyed your visit, Ada.

Ruby Hrabia went to Lloydminster to spend Thanksgiving with her son and daughter-in-law, her grandson and little great-granddaughter, two-year-old Bella. I'm sure it was nice to see them all, Ruby.

I had a lovely Thanksgiving too, visiting a dear friend of mine in Victoria, B.C. She was in a nursing home so I stayed with her daughter and family. The weather was so lovely that we enjoyed many outings.

A delicious Thanksgiving supper was catered by Second to None for the residents here in the tower. I missed that one, but hear it was wonderful.

Ida Baker enjoyed visiting in October. Oct. 4, she went to see her sister and brother in Biggar. Friday, they drove to where they used to live on a farm, which was a small place near Oban. After lunch, they visited a niece and nephew on the farm. When they got back to Biggar, Ida's sister took her out to a delicious Chinese supper. Then on Saturday she enjoyed a turkey supper with her sister and family.

Oct. 7, Ida visited her grandson and family in Battleford where they all had a delicious turkey supper.

Oct. 25, I attended a luncheon at Pennydale's. This was given by the News-Optimist for the reporters in the area. After a delicious meal we were taken on a tour of the Dekker Centre. Our guide was general manager Moe McGuinty. He informed us that it was 6,000 square feet and the theatre seats 385 people. We were then taken on a very interesting tour of the different areas of the building. These consisted of a full kitchen, rehearsal hall, three dressing rooms, a medical room, and a green room. They also had a large board room. It's a very beautiful building and we in the Battlefords should be very proud of it.

Mildred Klew went travelling too. She spent two weeks in British Columbia. In Hope she visited a son and daughter-in-law and in Abbotsford she saw many relatives and friends. She said it rained every day she was there except two days.

Oct. 31, we all enjoyed a Halloween Party downstairs in the lounge. Some came in costumes to make it more fun. There were games such as ring toss and darts. After calculations were made the ring toss was won by John Wiebe and the darts by David Toth. The best costume was Mary Dearborn as a ghost. After pictures were taken, a delicious lunch was served by Barb Foat, Mary Birch and Mary Dearborn.

Thank you to Bob, Harry, Barb and the two Marys, who organized such a lovely evening for us.

I hope everyone is keeping well these days and do be careful if you have to go out as it is very slippery out there. Take care folks.
